23 Week update

Just wanted to give a quick update. I had my 23 week appointment yesterday. Everything looked good. It was my biggest weight gain so far in between appointments. Usually I had just gained either 1 or 2 lbs…this time I gained 6 pounds. I have to say though, I have seen a significant change in the belly bump over the past week or so. I have gone from looking like I just ate a big meal to really pregnant. Even today when I went to pick up some lunch, the lady asked me…what are you having. I almost said I just told you…I just placed my order…but then I realized and responded…oh, I am having a boy. I guess I will have to get use to this. It is nice having people comment on you being pregnant. It is reassuring that you are finally out of that awkward phase and actually look like you have a belly for a reason.

The rest of the appointment was pretty quick…all the measurement/urine/etc fun stuff. When they went to listen to his heart we and got our laughs. The doctor had the hardest time hearing the heart because every time she put the doppler to my belly he would kick it. It was like he was trying to tell us to get that thing out of here! You could literally see my belly jump. We had lots of laughs but she was finally able to get the heart rate which was around 150. I think this little guy is going to know what he wants in life!

My next appointment in 4 weeks I will get another Ultrasound and I think about a week after that I have to go in and do the gestational diabetes test. Then I will start going in every 2 weeks. I can’t believe how fast all of this is going. The first trimester went so slow when I felt so bad, but now that I feel good it is just flying by. And we have been so busy. This past weekend we helped my parents start moving. Tonight they will be officially in their new house full time. Then this weekend we have some good friends coming in town to stay with us for the 4th of July.

Well I hope everyone has a great long holiday weekend with lots of fireworks! Happy 4th!

Busy week at the Field's house!!!

Well it has been a very busy week at our house. The week started out celebrating Chris's birthday with my family. We all went to Carabas(one of our favorites) for dinner. I LOVE their house salad with the yummy creamy Parmesan dressing AND all their cheese is pasteurized which makes it nice for the pregos out there.

Chris and Me at Dinner

The whole Family

Last Friday one of my best friends from high school was in town with her husband who Chris gets along with really well. So we always have fun hanging out with them. We went to Benihanas for some Hibachi! YMMMM. We had a great time and had LOTS of laughs. We ended up closing the place down. I think the valet was a ready for us to get out of there so they could go home because the car was just waiting on us. HA! I don't get to see Amber very much though so I had to take full advantage! Amber, if you are reading this, thanks for the fun night out and can't wait to do it again soon. Still praying for you two to move back to BIG D!

For Fathers Day we always have a tradition of Pinatas and Horse Races. I know it is kind of a random tradition and not really sure how it all started. But it is a tradition none the less and we always have a great time!

Here is my dad getting ready to hit his pinata that was a $100 bill. I found it appropriate since he is a finance guy.

Chris picked out his own pinata...he picked a guitar. I have no idea why as I don't think he has ever played a guitar in his life, but he like it.

It didn't take him long to knock it down. He even did it left handed. That is my little baseball player for you!

Next, we went on to the Horse Races. Can we say HOT!! Being Prego makes the heat so much more miserable. I still had fun, but definitely did a lot more sitting in the shade and drank TONS of water. We laughed a lot at my mom, she kept winning but the payoff would only be like 20 cents. She kept betting on the horses with the low odds. We had a lot of laughs.

Chris and I towards the end...we were DONE!

Last weekend I also got to meet my good friend Tara's little boy, Lincoln(look at all the hair!). I am sure there will be many playdates with our boys in the near future! Can't wait. Lincoln was such a sweetheart. He just slept on me and it was such a good feeling. Definitely got my baby fix in! Thanks Tara for posting the pic so I could steal it off your blog. :)
On the baby front...a quick update. I am 22 weeks this week. Things are going great. Feeling good and at that perfect stage of being past the morning sickness phase and not quite big enough to be uncomfortable. I finally LOOK pregnant for the random people that don't know me. Last week I had the first stranger make a comment about me being prego. It was a great feeling to know that people can tell I am prego and not just some chick with a beer gut. This little guy is very active. KICKS ALOT. He even wakes me up in the middle of the night. Chris got to feel his first kick a few weeks ago and my mom felt him on Fathers Day. Baby Fields Definitely likes to punch and kick. I think Chris is hoping that is a good sign. He keeps saying that it is his pitching arm. Ha! Well I have my next Dr. appt on Monday...it should be a short one. Not sure if I will have any updates.
This weekend we will be helping my parents move into their new house. Finally after 2 years of looking, they finally bought a house. I am excited to use their pool and their media room. YEAH.

Oh and Chris and I also went last weekend and ordered all our baby furniture and bedding! Yeah for making some progress. I will post about that later and include some pictures.
I hope everyone is having a great week!

Follow the Yellow Brick Road

With the storms this week, I couldn't help but think of last March when a big storm hit our neighborhood. We are pretty convinced that it was a tornado, although I don't know if it was ever confirmed. Our neighborhood did get some publicity though...CNN came out! Anyway, Our house was very fortunate because all the damage we got was a broken window where some one's fence hit it. Others weren't so fortunate. Some of our neighbors lost their entire chimneys...and some lost their entire roofs. Our neighbors across the street had water streaming in through their lights in their ceilings. Here are some pictures of March 08....although I think the pictures don't do it justice.

The sky right after the storm...and our street light that busted.

The remains of the fence that broke our window.

Our only damage...we were VERY lucky.

Some one's trampoline...who knows where it came from

Poor trees. And that tree isn't theirs, it came from about 5 houses down.

These poor people got a lot of damage although you can't see it all. Their air conditioners were ripped out and turned upside down. They lost most of their windows and a panel of some one's fence ended up landing on the master bed. Luckily no one was in it...they were upstairs getting their kids.

The majority of people lost their fences....which in a way was nice, because after the storm everyone got really nice new fences and our neighborhood looked nice.

More damage

Our park lost lots of trees...

Lots of people lost their roofs and garage doors.

I hope everyone made it through the bad weather this week...and there wasn't too much damage. We were in Lewisville when the sirens went off...we went to Canes for shelter and they ended up locking the doors and clearing out their storage room so we could all get in there if we needed too. Their was even a lady in there with her cat....made me laugh because I am sure it was against code...ha. Anyway I heard a tornado touched down just a few miles from us, but luckily no damage to report on our end. Hope everyone has a good weekend and lots of sunny weather!

Tiffany and Kyle's Wedding in Houston

This past weekend Chris and I went to Houston for our friend's (Kyle and Tiffany) wedding. Chris went to high school with both of them. This weekend was really nice for Chris because it was basically like a big high school reunion for him. All of his old baseball buddies were there. We left last Thursday and got back Sunday night. The entire weekend was pretty busy. Friday Morning Chris got up early to play golf with the rest of the guys in the wedding party. Then that night we went to the rehearsal dinner at Cadillac Bar. Saturday we went to the wedding at Trinity Lutheran and then the reception at the Aquarium. It was a beautiful wedding. If I got married in Houston, I would have loved to have my reception at the Aquarium. It was absolutely beautiful and Tiffany and her parents threw a great party! Too bad my feet were killing me which took a little fun out of the dancing. But I kicked my shoes off and danced anyway. I was literally barefoot and pregnant! ha! Here are some pictures from Saturday at the reception.

When we first got there, the entire wedding party got to ride up in the Ferris wheel. Here is a picture from the top of the Ferris wheel of some of the other guests on the balcony getting some cocktails.

Here is a picture of the guys being goofy taking pictures of each other in the Ferris wheel.

I thought this was a neat picture.

Here is a picture of Chris and Me on the Ferris wheel

Here Chris and the other wedding party are getting introduced.

Here are some pictures of Chris and Me during the night.

Overall it was a great weekend....Tiffany and Kyle seem very happy and are probably having a blast right now in Jamaica.

Memorial Day Weekend at the Farm

This past weekend we went to Chris's family farm for Memorial Day weekend. His farm is in the middle of nowhere in Columbia, LA. This was his mom's father's house when he was alive. I like going there to visit because it literally makes you feel so far from everything. Growing up in a big city, I never had the chance to experience a slower pace lifestyle..so it is good to get away now and then and relax. But I couldn't ever live there....need my city conveniences.

So we left Friday morning and headed down to the farm. Our trip didn't get off to the best start. As you can see from the picture below someone forgot to close down a few lanes after construction and we ended up with sticky oil and tar all over our car. It took days to get it all off because every time we drove more would come off the tires and onto the paint. Fortunately this was the only headache of our trip.

As soon as we got there, Sage wanted to ride the mule...and no not the animal but this golfcart looking vehicle. She loves riding on it and gets so excited that if you just walk towards it she jumps on and wants you to take her for a ride. In the back you will notice the cottage that Chris and his dad are building. Things have been sooo busy so it has been a long project...hopefully they will finish it soon.

And only on a farm do you have neighbors that have pet donkeys. This is Mason and Star.....and soon Star will be having Mason's baby. She has been in heat and lets just say you can learn a lot about the birds and bees from these two little donkeys. As you can see, the dogs made friends with them. Grace even decided to go under the barbwire fence and play. Greg, our neighbor who owns the donkeys told us that wasn't a very good idea. Did you know that a Donkey will kill a dog in their pen? People actually get donkeys to kill Coyotes. They will stomp them to death. Something you only learn on a farm. We had to watch Grace the rest of the trip pretty closely..she wanted to play with them. Grace loves all animals!

Our dogs just LOVE the farm....they will run for hours....look how happy Sage is. They had just finished running through the woods and swimming in the pond.

Grace was tired...she just wanted her belly rubbed.

Another picture of the cottage.

Last year a tornado went through the woods and destroyed some trees. Look at what it did to the 120 year old oak tree. Looks neat but kind of sad...

Chris and I climbed up on the tree to get a better view. The dogs wanted up with us so bad. Grace actually tried to jump 7 feet up on the tree...only her front paws hit and she fell. Not too bright...but she was ok. Sage actually walked up it like a balance beam. Our dogs are crazy...no fear.

On Sunday we went to the Locks and Dam on the Ouachita River. It is the big attraction of Columbia..hee hee. And of course before that we went to Johnny's Pizza. You can't go to the farm with out eating at Johnny's. Some of the best pizza ever! And I promise my gutt is all baby and not too much pizza...:) lets hope at least.

Here is Chris being his normal self after drinking too much sweet tea. Way TOO much sugar.

It was a nice relaxing trip and I hope everyone else had a good LONG weekend too!

I will try and post tomorrow or sometime this weekend to share what we find out tomorrow. Hopefully little nugget Fields will cooperate and we will find out if we will be having a mini Chris or mini Nicole. Stay tuned......
